SKIN AND BLISTERS....

This was the title of a performance given by Team Educational Theatre Company to all junior cycle girls and some parents, on the 19th November.

The Team of 5 arrived in the school soon after 8am. and immediately set about transforming the library into a circular theatre space with great backdrops – almost like a circus!
Nora Stillman – Team’s Education Director – led a parent’s workshop before the performance.
The play itself was a hard hitting story, tackling issues of self identity, body image and eating disorders among young women.  The actors were fantastic, holding everybody spellbound for the entire performance.  The close circular arrangement meant that the audience really felt they were participating in the play.

Afterwards the students had workshops where they explored the themes presented by the play and how these themes might relate to their own lives.

Team Educational also offered a weeks residency to 2 second year students.  There was great interest in this among the second year girls and the lucky two chosen were Gillian Cottell and Debbie Walsh.

OUR RESIDENCY WITH TEAM

23 – 27TH NOVEMBER

Everyday for a week we went into town on the bus at 8am. For a 9:30am start.  We finished at 3:30.  We had a 15 minute break in the morning and an hour for lunch so we went shopping and for something to eat, usually Mac Donalds!
During the day we did games and drama and we talked about girl stuff and problems and the pressures of life. The teachers were Nora and Jennie and they were really nice.  There were 20 of us from schools all over the city and county, so we made loads of friends and still keep in touch.  On the last day we all went out for lunch and shopping.  Then we put on a play which was filmed and there was an audience.
We had a BRILLIANT time
