EileenWelcome to the Yearbook 2009 . It is a great honour and privilege for me to write the introduction to our Yearbook, which offers us a very valuable opportunity to reflect on an excellent academic year for our school community. This has been an historic year with the retirement of our esteemed Principal, Mr. Brian Mc Namara last September and the ensuing changes in the Management of the school. We welcomed Miss O’ Brien as our new Deputy Principal and in the short time she has been with us she has become very part of our vibrant school community. We bade farewell to Ms Harkin and Mr Lavery who had been Irish and Art teachers respectively in the school for many years. Both are greatly missed in the Holy Child but I am assured that they, like Mr Mc Namara, are enjoying retirement to the full.

On retrospective examination of this academic year 2008/2009 it is amazing to me how quickly it has flown by. From the Primary Visits to the Cornelia Connelly celebrations to the recent sporting events and School Fete the year has moved along in a busy productive way! Civic Link Belfast trip 2010

By Gary Molloy & Danielle Higgins TY

We recently went up to Belfast on our Civic Link trip. We met with Ms. Lawlor and Mr. Walsh at 9.30am in Dun Laoghaire to get the Dart up to Connelly Station; from there we transferred trains to the Enterprise which would bring us to Belfast Central Station. The Enterprise took two hours to reach Belfast, but it didn’t seem so long as we just entertained ourselves playing cards and listening to music.

Article in Irish Times Jan 2010

Holy Child, Sallynoggin, Dublin, provides more support for special needs students than any other school in the city, topping the recent Irish Times list. Principal Eileen Morris is determined that inclusion permeates the ethos of the school, writes LOUISE HOLDEN

HOLY CHILD Sallynoggin transfers students to UCD, NCAD, DIT, DCU and Mater Dei. The school has a science block, art studios, soccer pitches, tennis courts, a sports hall and a dance studio. Famous for its arts and music division, the school offers dance tutorship for all students with RTÉ choreographer Pat Howe. Every student gets a chance to play the instrument of their choice in the school band.
You’d pay a lot to send your child to a school like that, wouldn’t you?
